Good Morning! Start Monday off with this video of Steph Curry’s MVP speech. Back to back style!
QUIPS FOR THIS WEEK
NBA
After weeks of great basketball, we’ve finally reached the Conference Finals. How did we get here, you might ask? Well…
In the East, the Toronto Raptors beat the Miami Heat in Game 7 on Sunday and will move on to play the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have been waiting for a little while to see who they would meet. These guys will kick off their series on Tuesday night. Yes, we know what you may be thinking…who will Drake cheer for?!?
Out West, league MVP Steph Curry led the Golden State Warriors over the Portland Trail Blazers and will next play the Oklahoma City Thunder, who beat the San Antonio Spurs earlier this week. The wild wild western conference finals get started Monday night.
Needless to say, the Conference Finals will be AWESOME. Get ready y’all.
PS- Karl Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves was named the NBA’s rookie of the year.
Hockey
And with this past week, we’ve made it to the Conference Finals. The Tampa Bay Lightning scored a 4-1 series win over the New York Islanders, and the Pittsburgh Penguins won their series 4-2 against the Washington Capitals. The two winners proceeded to the Conference Finals and Tampa Bay won Game 1 against Pittsburgh on Friday, 3-1. They’ll play again tonight at 8pm EST on NBCSN. And, the St. Louis Blues won their series against the Dallas Stars 4-3, and the San Jose Sharks won their series against the Nashville Predators 4-3. The Blues played the Sharks in Game 1 yesterday, and won 2-1. They’ll play again on Tuesday at 8pm EST on NBCSN.
Baseball
Baseball is back on the quips and we’ve got things to share!
Max Scherzer had 20 strike outs for the Washington Nationals last week against the Detroit Tigers — he matched a league record!
In other news, Rougned Odor and Jose Bautista got into a brawl during the Texas Rangers/Toronto Blue Jays game on Sunday.
Soccer
Luis Suarez scored a hat trick and Barcelona scored a 3-0 win over Granada to capture their 24th La Liga title this weekend. Although Real Madrid beat Deportivo La Coruña on Saturday, Barcelona’s performance means that Real Madrid finished the season in second place.
And, in EPL news, Arsenal scored a 4-0 win over Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur lost 1-5 to Newcastle United. After those matches, Arsenal finished the season in 2nd and Tottenham finished in 3rd. Manchester City drew against Swansea City 1-1 to secure 4th place for this season. The Manchester United/Bournemouth match was rescheduled to Tuesday night after a scare at the stadium. That will be the last match of the season.
Liverpool will take on Sevilla in the Europa League final on Wednesday, and Crystal Palace will take on Manchester United in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
