Good Morning Team SQ! Even though the Golden State Warriors lost Steph Curry, they still scored 41 points in the third quarter of Game 4 of Round 1 against the Houston Rockets yesterday. Check it out:
QUIPS FOR THIS WEEK
NBA
The first games of Round 1 of the NBA playoffs continued with tons of basketball this past week/end. Out West, the big news of the weekend is Steph Curry.
The Golden State Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets 121-94 to go up 3-1 but lost Steph Curry to a knee injury in his first game back from an ankle injury. Here’s to hoping he’s okay.
In other NBA West news, the San Antonio Spurs eliminated the Memphis Grizzlies to win the series 4-0 while the Oklahoma City Thunder will continue their series against the Dallas Mavericks (they are up 3-1) and the LA Clippers (up 2-1) will try to win Game 4 on Monday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
In the East, the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Detroit Pistons 100-98 on Sunday to make their series 4-0, while the Atlanta Hawks lost to the Boston Celtics 95-104 in OT in a series-tying game. On Monday, the Miami Heat will try to take Game four in a series they’re leading 2-1 against the Charlotte Hornets, while the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors will face off Tuesday in another 2-2 tied series.
Hockey
We’re almost at Round 2 of the Stanley Cup playoffs! The teams that have already progressed to the second round are as follows: the Dallas Stars, San Jose Sharks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning, and New York Islanders.
Pay attention to Monday’s Anaheim Ducks v. Nashville Predators and Chicago Blackhawks v. St. Louis Blues games – the Ducks are currently leading the Predators 3-2 and this game might just seal the deal. The Blackhawks and Blues are tied 3-3, so this game will show us which team has the might to move on to the second round.
Soccer
On Saturday, #3 Manchester City scored a 4-0 win over Stoke City, Chelsea won 4-1 over AFC Bournemouth, and Liverpool and Newcastle United drew 2-2 after a second-half Newcastle comeback. Liverpool is now sitting at #7 in the table, and Newcastle is sitting at #19, still in the danger zone of being relegated. On Sunday, Arsenal drew 0-0 against Sunderland and dropped to #4 in the table, and #1 Leicester City beat Swansea City 4-0 to even further cement their top position.
Congrats to Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez for winning the PFA Player of the Year award. He scored 17 goals and made 11 assists to help Leicester ascend to the very top this season.
On Tuesday the 26th, Manchester City will play Real Madrid and on Wednesday the 27th, Atletico Madrid will play Bayern Munich. Both of these UEFA Champions League games are at 2:45pm EST.

Bryce Harper > Mike Trout
Last season, Harper overtook Trout as the “best young player in baseball”
