2.29.16: From 32 Feet…

Good Morning, Team SQ! Let’s talk about Steph and his 32-foot OT game-winner on Saturday night. No, really… Watch:

QUIPS FOR THIS WEEK

NBA

Like we said in the intro, Saturday night arguably featured the game of the season as the Golden State Warriors topped the Oklahoma City Thunder in OT 121-118 on the road. Oh, and Steph Curry tied the NBA record with 12 threes in a game. He now holds the top three spots on the single season 3-pointer list. Yep, just another day.

In Eastern conference news, the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Washington Wizards on Sunday 113-99… and JR Smith is concerned. Seeing how LeBron James didn’t play… we think they’ll be just fine.

Oh, and in terms of what to watch this week?? It’s gotta be the Thunder/Warriors rematch on Thursday at 10:30 pm EST in Oakland. Steph, Westbrook, KD, Draymond, Klay…oh my! We can’t wait.

College Basketball

We’re coming upon the last week of the regular season and teams are starting to feel the pressure. Ohio State upset Iowa State 68-64 on Saturday, North Carolina fell to Virginia 74-79 on Saturday night, and Duke lost to Pittsburgh 62-76 on Sunday afternoon.

In all things impressive, Kansas locked up their 12th straight regular season Big 12 title with a win over Texas Tech.

This week, tune in for:

  • UNC at Duke – Saturday, March 5th at 6:30pm on ESPN

Soccer

During the past week, Arsenal lost 0-2 against Barcelona in the Champions League, Juventus drew 2-2 against Bayern Munich, Manchester City beat Dynamo Kiev 3-1, and PSV Eindhoven drew 0-0 against Atletico Madrid. On Saturday, Leicester City took home a late 1-0 win against Norwich City to stay at the top of the table and Chelsea scored a 2-1 win over Southampton. On Sunday in EPL, Manchester United won 3-2 over Arsenal (which brought them within striking distance of Man City’s 4th place spot in the table) and Tottenham Hotspur scored 2-1 over Swansea City. And, in Sunday’s Capital One Cup, Manchester City beat Liverpool to win on penalties. Their goalkeeper, Willy Caballero, was the star of the show as they won the shootout 3-1 after the match finished 1-1.

And in global football news, FIFA has a new president. Gianni Infantino was elected to replace Sepp Blatter.

Other

One day before the NHL trade deadline, the New York Rangers acquired a new player – Carolina Hurricanes’ center Eric Staal. In exchange for Staal, the Rangers gave the Hurricanes a second-round pick in 2016 and 2017, as well as Aleksi Saarela. The deadline is 3pm EST on Monday, so pay attention ’til then!
